A new report from MacRumors claims that Apple has decided to make the iPhone 9 a “grey” model, instead of just black.
The reason is because “black leather has been the norm for years in the US, where it is perceived to be cheaper,” MacRumor’s Matt Cutts said.
“For example, the $1,100 iPhone X has a black leather back and is supposed to look a bit more expensive than its predecessors.”
The new iPhone, which will debut in March for $199, is the second most expensive smartphone ever made, behind the iPhone 6s Plus, which is currently selling for $9,999.
The new iPhones, which are expected to feature a more affordable design, are also expected to have better battery life, faster processors, and more powerful chips, according to MacRumored.
MacRumorians claims that the iPhone will feature a “new design for a smoother ride.”
